SWISH AR

Dunked (Formerly known as SwishAR) is an AR basketball game that aims to provide an entertaining and engaging experience that fosters a sense of competition and community amongst users within a local geographic area. Created using Unity and Niantics Lighthip, the game allows users to interact with virtual basketball hoops placed in their physical environment, tracking shot distance, hoop height, and consecutive successful shots to calculate a score. This score is then added to a local leaderboard, accessible only within a specific radius, encouraging users to compete with others in their vicinity potentially fostering connections and camaraderie. Drawing inspiration from non-augmented basketball games like GamePigeon and the geofencing system in YikYak, our project combines these concepts to create a more immersive and meaningful AR experience. Initial prototypes will utilize ARFoundation for plane detection and object occlusion, while subsequent iterations may explore Niantic's Lightship ARDK for its superior meshing capabilities and potential integration of VPS features for placing basketball hoops.
