Jehovah-Nissi"; “The Lord is My Banner”: Jehovah-Nissi is the name Moses attributed to God in the book of Exodus. A banner, more specifically a war banner, is a symbol used to signify to the world who, or in this case, whose you belong to. It is an item you carry into battle with. Jehovah-Nissi is my favorite name of God, and a fiery banner was always how I imagined His presence would manifest visually. Hebrews 12:29 describes God as “a consuming fire,” and while this may seem frightening at first glance, that fear moves to comfort and security because I know this “Fire” is for me and loves me more than I could hope to understand. So, who or what am I to fear in this life?
